Friends of Tuolumne County Film Commission will hold "Hollywood's Big Night Gala"–a celebration of the 81st Academy Awards(R) presentation–on Sunday, Mar. 7, 2010 at the Sonora Opera Hall. The event is a benefit for both the non-profit film commission and the Connections Academy, and honors outstanding film achievements in an elegant setting.
The Friends of Film's local gala will feature a big-screen telecast of the Academy Awards(R) presentation, a four-course dinner and wine, plus a silent auction benefiting the nonprofit organization. Connections Academy students will provide additional entertainment throughout the evening. Guests will be given special ballots and will try to win prizes by guessing which films and actors will win Oscars(R). Prizes will also be awarded for Best Dressed Couple. The black-tie optional event begins at 5 p.m. with a red carpet arrival just as the Hollywood version is seen on the broadcast.
The evening's master of ceremonies will be KVML/KZSQ News Reporter BJ Hansen.
Tickets are $75, or two for $125. Contact Friends' Secretary Bob Lippert at 209-533-4117, or 533-4420, ext. 106.
Friends of Tuolumne County Film Commission is a 501(c)3 charitable organization and a portion of your donation is tax-deductible.
About the "Friends" Friends of Tuolumne County Film Commission was created to help build our local film industry by encouraging young filmmakers, building the facilities needed for filming, and celebrating Tuolumne County's rich film history. Activities underway include acquiring a property option to rebuild the Back to the Future III Western Set, building relationships with the secondary and college-level film and media programs, and raising funds for a yearly film festival. Future goals include a soundstage facility for training and professional use and a museum dedicated to the history of the film industry in Tuolumne County.
